LG KF600 Review - Register Hardware

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Register Hardware reviews the LG KF600 and writes, “The camera is capable of capturing some finely detailed shots, with quite vibrant colour rendition. Its automatic metering system adjusts quickly to changing lighting conditions and exposure is generally good. In low light levels, the performance isn’t quite so good, and the flash option could be better – it is bright for short-range shots, but doesn’t illuminate with much finesse.”

Leaked press photo’s; its the LG VX8610 Decoy from Verizon Wireless

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Typically we see the press style photos turning up first with the live-style images showing up second, however in the case of the LG VX8610 Decoy from Verizon Wireless it was exactly the opposite.

These are nice crisp, clear press style images showing off the upcoming LG VX8610 Decoy in all its glory. The Decoy, while a basic looking slider style from the front, has a unique little trick hidden on the back in the form of a “built-in” Bluetooth headset. Although the details are still unconfirmed it looks like the Decoy is expected to become available in June.

Keep reading to check out a few more images of the LG VX8610 Decoy.

Motorola EM30 gains FCC approval

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Sporting a very similar look as the current MOTOROKR E8, the EM30 has landed at the FCC and received their approval. The most notable difference between the EM30 and E8 is the navigation pad, the EM30 uses a D-pad as opposed to the omega wheel navigation. The Motorola EM30 is your basic looking candybar style handset, however it does offer some nice features, which includes the keypad, it changes layout based on the current application in use. The EM30 also includes a 2-inch display, 2-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack, FM radio, microSD card slot and takes advantage of Motorola’s Crystal Talk technology. Currently the launch information and pricing remains a mystery, however we will keep you updated when it becomes available.

Meizu M8 interface redesigned yet again, gets all sparkly

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

by Joshua Fruhlinger, posted May 24th 2008 at 11:41AM

In the latest of what’s becoming a long history of tweaks to the Meizu M8 interface, Meizu CEO Jack Wong unleashed some new shots of the upcoming UI to his adoring fans. The new interface is designed by eico design — who have also worked with Google, Lenovo, and Philips — and looks to have a visually-satisfying sparkle animation for selected items (unless the battery above is just leaking). Another addition appears to be LED-styled status updates to applications, like number of missed calls and unread messages. Until we see this all in motion, though, we’ll quietly speculate and hope the pretty pictures are real.

SmartQ’s T5-II handheld does multimedia and emulation

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

by Darren Murph, posted May 24th 2008 at 8:37AM

Although Oppo’s fresh S11 likely has SmartQ’s latest beat in the attractiveness department, the 4GB T5-II is the unanimous champion in terms of sheer utility. Not only can this handheld handle MP3, OGG, WMA, FLAC, APE, AAC, WAV, AVI, XviD, DivX, MPEG and MP4 files (just to name a few), it also features a video output, SDHC expansion slot, six-band equalizer and a 600MHz processor. Furthermore, you’ll find a 3-inch 320 x 240 resolution display and a built-in emulator that handles GBA and even NEO GEO titles. Not too shabby for $174.99 if we may say so ourselves, but do yourself a favor and peek the preview vid after the break before rushing to judgment.

Cyclops Visor replica

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Ever wondered how Cyclops aka Scott Summers viewed the world from his ruby quartz visor? Sure, he isn’t as manly as Wolverine, but he will definitely be a person whom mom would approve of you bringing home. Get a glimpse into his world with the Cyclops Visor replica.

This Cyclops Visor replica is authentically duplicated from the actual 20th Century Fox filming prop. Ruby quartz being a little too expensive to use, this replica has red iridium polarized sunglass lens (which means they function as regular shades, too). The Cyclops Visor Replica folds to a convenient size and can be stored in the included full metal display box. The box is a piece of art too - embossed with the X-Men logo as it is. Inside is also a visor blueprint. With this replica, you can pretend to be Cyclops and lead the X-Men into battle (even if that battle is just against your evil Office Manager).

Each $74.99 purchase comes with a certificate of authenticity just in case your mates get jealous of your affluent nerdiness and start to heckle you about it being a fraud.

Water Games Technologies Red Diamond bath tub features HDTVs, cellular control

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

by Nilay Patel, posted May 24th 2008 at 6:12AM

We’re no strangers to out-there bathroom fixtures, but the $47,000 Red Diamond bathtub from Water Games Technologies is probably a new low high in powder room decadence. The screaming-red tub features multicolor lighting, a computer-controlled heating system that maintains your desired water temperature, an automatic disinfection system and built-in massager. Of course, that’s what any peasant’s tub offers — the real action is in the two retractable HDTVs, Swarovski-encrusted champagne holder, and built-in GSM module that lets you call your bathtub and get things ready for some splashy time from afar. No word on availability, but if you’re in the market we’re certain your butler can figure it out for you.

aTV Flash goes commercial: plug-and-play hacks for your Apple TV

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

by Darren Murph, posted May 23rd 2008 at 11:14PM

Engineering souls have been hacking up the Apple TV for a good while now, but those too scared of completely ruining their box have had to sit patiently on the sidelines waiting for someone else to do their dirty work. Enter aTV Flash, a USB flash drive which enables your Apple TV (Take 2 included) to do all sorts of fancy new tricks without any fuss. Those with the drive simply plug it in and watch as new file formats become supported, UPnP media streaming opens up and Safari-based web browsing becomes a reality (among other things). Granted, the convenience will cost you $59.95, but that’s the price you pay for making your life easier (and your Apple TV a little more useful).

Oppo offers up sleek S11 portable media player

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

by Darren Murph, posted May 24th 2008 at 4:42AM

Go ‘head Oppo — get down with your bad self. This S11 portable media player may not be the most easily recognized on the streets, but it sure has a lot going for it. Aside from the sleek (dare we say sexy?) enclosure, the unit packs a 3-inch 400 x 240 resolution touch panel, video out port, integrated photo viewer / calender / stopwatch / calculator, a couple of games, file search capabilities and support for MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, AAC and APE audio files. On the video front, it’ll play nice with AVI, DivX, XviD, RM, RMVB and FLV formats. If the 4GB of internal memory just isn’t enough, there’s also a microSD slot for loading in additional media. Check out a video preview of the thing just after the break before dropping $163.99, though.
